Top Coaching Candidate Snubs Kaizer Chiefs
The leading candidate for the position of Kaizer Chiefs’ coach is apparently set to manage a different club instead.
Since last month, Vanderlei Luxemburgo of Brazil was rumoured to be earmarked as the top choice to replace interim coach, Cavin Johnson, whose current tenure has been marred by countless disappointing draws and losses.
Boasting an extensive coaching career – which saw him managing the likes of Santos, Palmeiras, Flamengo and Corinthians – Luxemburgo seemed to be the most likely person to lead Chiefs out of their slump.
Unfortunately for the Glamour Boys, they will have to look elsewhere for a new manager: per recent reports, the 71-year-old Brazilian is remaining in South America to undertake another coaching opportunity.
The team he will be taking charge of is Club Deportivo Tricolor, who are based in Paine, Chile.
With Luxemburgo seemingly out of the picture, Chiefs will now have to explore other options in their search for a suitable replacement.
